I recommend for all ages and skill levels. The technical level and experience of instructors and several of the students are like no other. A large number of them are international champions and more are getting ready for the challenge, like me. It is a traditional dojo, it is expected discipline, respect and hard work. Two things I think to be unique, first is the supportive environment (competitive yes, but it is like a big family of champions sharing their best) and the second is the intellectual teachings (origin of techniques, comparisons with other martial arts) which is making me sharper as a karate-ka and a person.

Remembering Raj Mehta

The Raj Mehta Leadership Award was established in 2021 in memory of Raj Mehta, a black belt, leader, and member at Triangle’s Best Karate dojo for seven years.  In addition to being a warm, brilliant, approachable friend and mentor, Raj was a gifted karate student, competitor in kata, kumite, and kobudo, a peer coach, and an emerging karate official.  The dojo and Mehta family want to make sure good deeds are done to honor the positivity he projected. The 2021 winner was announced by Mr. and Mrs. Mehta on April 19 during a Dojo Senior Send-Off ceremony. A $500 scholarship was made to J.J. Yu-Robinson.

The Mehta family has re-opened the scholarship program in 2023 to members of the karate community. Applications will be accepted April 15-30, 2023. For a copy of the application form, please email, info@trianglesbestkarate.com Qualifications… Applicant:

  • Is at least 16 years of age

  • Will use awarded funds for post-secondary education (graduate studies, undergraduate, community college)

  • Is/was a member of the AAU or TBK program for at least 5 years

  • Has not received the same award previously

  • Demonstrated commitment to Karate

  • Desire to grow and help others grow

  • 500-word response to a choice of two essay questions
