COMPETE
Register as a karate athlete, ages 5-75, to compete for gold, silver, bronze, and to qualify for regional and national AAU Karate events in 2025. More details and registration will open on Nov. 18 at ncaau.myuventex.com
Four experience levels:
Beginner, 0-1 years of training, wear white belt
Novice, 1-2 years of training, wear green belt
Intermediate, 2-4 years of training, wear brown belt
Advanced, 4 or more years of training, wear black belt
Separate male and female divisions per 2-3- year age brackets. The event organizer may combine divisions to provide a meaningful competitive experience.
Two other special divisions:
1. Rookie/PeeWee division (Coach may accompany athlete into the ring), ages 7 and below, white belt only, new to competition. This division will not be qualified to compete at the regional or national level. Every athlete will receive a medal.
2. Inclusive/adaptive karate will have 3 age groups. (coach many accompany athlete into the ring).
COACH
Coaches fee is $40/coach. Each dojo will receive a Free coach discount code if one official is registered and works for 4 hours. (Good for up to 2 officials/2 coaches per club).
OFFICIAL
Black belts ages 15 and older are encouraged to begin officiating kobudo, kata, and kumite. Training and feedback will be provided by Sensei Stephen Robinson, Chief Referee of the AAU Referees Council and WUKF World Referee Commission. Officials are registered for free and will be given a lunch.

Best Karate Kids perform at Raleigh’s International Food Festival

Triangle’s Best Karate performance is 11:20 – 11:30 AM. Performers must meet Sensei JJ or Cyndy at the stage no later than 10:45 AM. Stage is in front the Raleigh Marriott/giant Acorn statue.
International Food, Desserts, Beer & Wine, Vendors
Non-stop performances – over 30 counties represented. INCLUDING Triangle’s Best Karate on the stage nearest Sheraton Hotel on Fayetteville Street (one street over from the Raleigh Convention Center). Parking is limited, best to carpool or take the free R circulating bus from Glenwood South.
Free Admission, just bring your family and cards to buy food and crafts.

THU, 7/4, 8-4:30 PM mandatory kata ages 16+ up, all Ko Ka Kumite events ages 5-12, and veterans (ages 35+)
FRI 7/5, all Ko Ka Sanbon Kumite events ages 13-34, some ippon kumite events for advanced ages 13+
SAT 7/6 Ippon and team kumite, and Finals starting at 5:00 pm.
Evenings you can plan on being free by 4:30 or earlier for pool, dinners, or beach.
AAU Jr Olympic Games (Greensboro, NC, July 27-28)
2024 is an Olympic year, not just for the world’s top athletes in Paris, France, but for AAU Sports and youth ages 5-18. Best Karate and Fitness has been an AAU sports club for 20 years. This summer, we’re offering a 3-month program, to expand our team going to the Jr. Olympic Games Three months of karate training will culminate in a new belt AND a competition at AAU Jr. Olympic Games, on July 27-28, at the Greensboro Colosseum.

1 credential pick-up
Credentials and prepaid spectator tickets may be picked up at the Hilton Garden Inn Charlotte North, address: 9315 Statesville Rd, Charlotte, NC 28269, on Friday May 3, 5:30-:00 p.m. But you can also get credentials and buy admission tickets on Saturday at the venue. We take Cash, Venmo, and Credit Cards.

Doors open to athletes and their families at 9 AM.
TBK and Goldsboro volunteers and all officials may enter the building as early as 7:30 AM.
Competition starts at 9:30 AM with ages 15 and up advanced/black belt rank (15-17, 18-34 and 35+ male and female) FIRST. This is followed by youngest to oldest, all ranks or all other ranks. Kobudo, Kata, and Kumite in same ring wherever the age group is called.
We anticipate the entire tournament will end by 3 PM.
We do not have additional staging or start times by age.

Parking is available on East Sixth Street and in the open air parking lot across the street at $9/ per day.

Uniforms are white with no piping and one AAU patch, belts are white, green, brown, or black representing the years of training. Kata divisions are open, mixed styles including the Advanced Adults. Kobudo/weapons are limited to bo, eiku, sai, tonfa, kama, nunchaku. Kumite gear required for insurance purposes include: helmet with face shield, naugahyde mitts, and mouthpiece/gum shield, and groin cup for males of all ages. Optional for youth and adults are shin guards and foot protectors, chest guards for youth and females.

Bull Moose Invitational tournment (passed)
A fun fall tournament on Halloween weekend, excellent national competitors. Compete on Saturday, Oct. 28 and train with kumite champ Brian Hilliard and kata instructor Mostafa Elrakabawy on Sunday, Oct. 29.
